Rantoul man pleads guilty to sexual assault

URBANA - A Rantoul man has pleaded guilty to the 2007 sexual assault of a girl.

Hector Rosas, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.  Authorities say Rosas admitted to assaulting a girl, who was 10 years old at the time, in 2007.

In exchange for his plea, Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar dropped two other counts of sexual assault of the same girl, as well as four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a separate case involving two other girls in 2011 and 2013.

Rosas will be sentenced in December.  He faces six to 30 years in prison.
