Illinois man receives 23 year sentence for armed robbery

PEORIA - An Illinois man who pleaded guilty to robbing two acquaintances at gunpoint earlier this year has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Seanquarius Ewing, 19, received his sentence after pleading guilty to two felony counts of armed robbery using a firearm.

According to authorities, the incident happened in February at an East Peoria Wal-Mart Supercenter's parking lot.  Ewing offered to give the two men a ride home, and then pulled a handgun from his vehicle's glove compartment when the men were in the backseat.  One man gave Ewing $250, while the other gave him $20.

Authorities say Ewing then allowed the men to exit the vehicle, but threatened retaliation if they reported the crime.  However, the men called police anyway.  Officers say Ewing was inside the store when they arrived.
