Several central Illinois organizations partnering to raise money for Special Olympics

DECATUR - Fourteen local companies and organizations will partner to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics in central Illinois on October 24.

The event, "Salute to Our Heroes for Special Olympics," will be held in Decatur's Central Park from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Sponsors for the event include ProEmp & Associates, the Knights of Columbus, Busey Bank, the Decatur Fire Department, the Decatur Police Department, the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Jim Cleveland - RE/MAX Executives Plus, Marquis Beverage, McLeod Express, Miles Chevrolet, Neuhoff Media, University Dogs, WAND-TV, and Wood Printing.

From 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., University Dogs will be selling pulled pork sandwiches for $6, with a portion of the proceeds being forwarded to Special Olympics.  Central Illinois residents are encouraged to have lunch and make donations at Central Park.  If you wish to donate but cannot make it to the event, you can send a check to ProEmp & Associates at 1065 W. Main Street, Decatur, IL, 62522.  Checks should be made payable to "Special Olympics Area 10."
