Illinois National Guard soldiers welcomed home

SPRINGFIELD - More than 200 Illinois National Guard soldiers who served 10 months overseas were welcomed home over the weekend.

On Saturday, ceremonies honoring the members of the 108th Sustainment Brigade were held in Springfield and Bridgeview.

Those members served 10 months in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq, providing mission command and logistical support for operations of service members and civilians.  The 108th Sustainment Brigade also provided humanitarian aid in Iraq.  Members also transported more than seven million tons of cargo, and set up the first Army Post Office in Iraq in three years, among other efforts.
