Central Illinois man faces child pornography charge

PEKIN - A central Illinois man already charged with sexually assaulting a child will now faces a child pornography charge in Peoria County.

Nicholas Lawrence, 26, was indicted by a grand jury on the child pornography charge this week.  Lawrence was indicted on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in September.

According to prosecutors, Lawrence caused a minor to appear in a sexually explicit photo in May.

Lawrence was a youth pastor for nearly two years at the Pekin Church of God, until he was fired in June.

If convicted, Lawrence faces up to 30 years in prison for this latest charge, in addition to the 60 years for the assault and abuse charges.
