PEKIN - A central Illinois man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of aggravated driving under the influence and reckless driving.
Authorities say Wade Stewart, 49, is accused of driving through a Pekin parking lot while drunk when the lot was occupied with adults and children.
Police say on October 11, officers responded to reports of a car that was stuck on a parking block after nearly striking children. Police also say a juice bottle containing alcohol was found in the car, and when Stewart's blood-alcohol content was tested in the parking lot, it was over the legal limit at 0.187.
Stewart remains in custody on $50,000 bond. If convicted of the DUI charge, he could face up to seven years in prison.
