CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in solving two homicides that happened during the early-morning hours of October 25.
The first incident happened in the 900 block of West Bradley Avenue in Champaign. Authorities say Champaign police officers received a report of gunshots fired in the area at about 2:14 a.m. Upon arriving, officers say they found a 35-year-old male gunshot victim lying unresponsive on the ground. The victim was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The second incident happened in the area of Summit Ridge and Hedge Road in Champaign. Authorities say Champaign police officers received a report of gunshots fired in the area at about 3:35 a.m. Officers say they later learned that a 24-year-old male shooting victim left the scene and was transported by car to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds. During the investigation, detectives say they learned that the shooting originated in the 1500 block of Winston Drive, and may have been the result of a physical altercation at an after-hours party.
