U of I officials announce plan for $13.3 million feed complex

URBANA - University of Illinois officials say they plan to build a new multimillion-dollar animal-feed technology complex at the institution's South Farms with help from the state.

On Friday, Governor Pat Quinn announced a $3.5 million grant for the complex.  Private donors, Illinois agricultural groups, and ADM will provide the rest of the funding for the $13.3 million facility.

University officials say the complex will replace the school's previous feed mill.  Students who study crop and animal science and nutrition and food science will get the chance to make customized animal feeds for class work and research.
