Early-morning truck-tractor crash leads to delays, temporary closures

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY - Illinois State Police say an early-morning truck-tractor semi-trailer crash has led to the closure of Interstate 74 entrance ramps to Interstate 57 southbound.

Authorities say the truck-tractor was traveling southbound on Interstate 57 near milepost 235.6 when it went off the right side of the road.  Police say the driver attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the road, but overcorrected and rolled the vehicle onto its side.  The semi-trailer slid into the guardrail that protects the Bradley Bridge overpass on the west side of the interstate, and came to rest with the rear of the trailer in the driving lane of I-57 southbound.

Illinois State Police say the driver, a 41-year-old male, was transported to Carle Hospital.  Emergency crews are on-scene trying to clear debris to open the roadway.  Police say motorists should use caution and yield to clean-up crews and emergency vehicles, and to use alternative routes to avoid the crash scene and delays if possible.
