Illinois man sentenced to 4 years for aggravated battery

URBANA - A central Illinois man who pleaded guilty to attacking a newspaper carrier has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Colby Cohoon, 20, received the sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated battery in September.

According to Assistant State's Attorney Lindsey Clark, the victim of the incident, as well as his wife and child, were delivering newspapers during the early morning hours of July 5 in Mahomet.  Clark says the victim dimmed his bright headlights as Cohoon's vehicle approached, but Cohoon pulled over, got out of his vehicle, and started yelling at the victim.

Clark also says Cohoon used a glass bottle to break through the victim's driver's window and hit him in the head.  The victim was later treated for cuts at a hospital.

Authorities say Cohoon received credit for 119 days already served.
