Springfield police investigate series of thefts

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in connection with a series of thefts that have occurred at schools and churches.

Springfield police say they have received four reports involving an individual entering churches and schools and removing items from the buildings.  In the reported incidents, police say the suspect has taken laptops, cell phones, wallets, purses, and credit cards.  Springfield police also say in one of the incidents, the suspect was found wandering the building by staff, but was allowed to remain inside the building after providing a false statement.

11-07-14    1200 Outer Park Drive
11-09-14    2400 Block of West Washington

Springfield police say the suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties.  If you have any information on these crimes, you are asked to contact the Springfield Police Department of Crime Stoppers.
