Illinois Treasurer announces auction for unclaimed property

Posted:
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford's office has announced plans to hold an online auction of unclaimed property from November 17 through November 21.

Rutherford says 492 pieces of unclaimed property, which includes jewelry, gold, and uncirculated Civil War-era bank notes, will be in the auction.  Rutherford adds that the items come from safe deposit boxes, whose owners haven't claimed the items in more than five years.

The auction begins at 10:00 a.m. November 17, and will run until 10:00 a.m. on November 21.  Anyone wanting to participate must register as a bidder, and sale prices must reach a minimum of 75 percent of the appraised value.

You can preview the items that will be auctioned at https://ibid.illinois.gov/storedetail.php?id=6426&catid=0&sort=&order=&tab=pending
