Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week kicks off with Box City event

DECATUR - Millikin University and the Macon County Continuum of Care will kick off Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with its annual Box City event on November 14.

The Box City event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Miller Quad on Millikin University's campus, and is part of Millikin's "#END Campaign" to bring awareness to the community.

Box City participants will donate one non-perishable food item to Decatur's Northeast Community Fund, and on November 15 they will walk to the Salvation Army in Decatur between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. in order to help serve breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual event held the week before Thanksgiving.
