Decatur residents can participate in "Operation Christmas Child"

Posted:
DECATUR - Decatur residents will have the chance to participate in one of the world's largest gift-giving projects this week.

The effort, named "Operation Christmas Child," is attempting to collect enough gifts to impact more than 10 million overseas children.  Individuals, families, and groups from Decatur can help reach that goal by dropping off colorfully-wrapped shoe box gifts filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies.

Project officials say their goal for Decatur is 22,700 gifts.  Collection points will be open throughout Decatur from November 17 through November 24.  To see a full list of drop-off locations, visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.
