USDA officials say Illinois' corn and soybean harvests nearly complete

SPRINGFIELD - U.S. Department of Agriculture officials say farmers in Illinois have nearly completed their corn and soybean harvests this year.

Despite the cold temperatures last week, USDA officials say 94 percent of the state's corn crop and 95 percent of the state's soybean crop have been harvested.  Officials say it's a big comeback for farmers, who stalled at the beginning of harvest due to wet weather.

Additionally, about 90 percent of Illinois' winter wheat crop has been planted, with about two-thirds of that crop already emerging.
