Illinois man sentenced to 60 years in prison for attempted sexual assault

LACON - Authorities say a previously convicted sexual predator who attempted to sexually assault a 5-year-old boy has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

John Miller, 39, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.  Authorities say prior to a plea deal, he was originally charged with assaulting the child.  Miller could have faced a life sentence if convicted of the assault charge.

In 2002, Miller was sentenced to eight years behind bars for assaulting a four-year-old child.  Miller will have to serve at least 51 years of his 60 year prison sentence under the agreement.
