Springfield police investigate series of thefts

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in their investigation into a series of thefts.

Springfield police say in the thefts, individuals posing as handymen have talked with homeowners and requested to do odd jobs such as rake leaves or clean gutters.  Police say these suspects talked their way into homes and distracted homeowners while others stole thousands of dollars in cash and jewelry from the distracted victims.

Springfield police say in two of the incidents, the suspects were described as a white male accompanied by two younger Hispanic males in a dark-colored pickup truck.
