Decatur Airport passes periodic FAA safety review

DECATUR - Decatur officials say the Federal Aviation Administration has completed a periodic safety review of the city's airport.

FAA officials conducted the safety review at the Decatur Airport on November 19 and 20.  Included in review were day and night airfield inspections for the purpose of viewing runway safety areas, and inspections of airfield pavement, painting, the lighting system, and airport equipment.

Airport firefighters also performed a required report drill, during which they were to respond to a simulated emergency in three minutes or less.

After the review was completed, FAA officials found the Decatur Airport to be in compliance with all requirements.  Decatur Airport Director Tim Wright and airport staff were also commended for procedures they use to operate the airport on a day-to-day basis.
