Macon County Sheriff's Office investigating bike trail attack

DECATUR - The Macon County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a violent attack that occurred along a bike path between Fairview Park and Rock Springs Environmental Center Saturday morning.

Authorities say at about 10:45 a.m. on November 22, the Macon County Sheriff's Office received a call about a violent attack along a bike path in rural Decatur.  Deputies say the victim was walking along the path when a man grabbed her and drug her into the woods.  Another person traveling on the path came upon the attack, causing the suspect to run from the area.  Authorities say the victim of this attack received minor injuries, and is recovering.  

Deputies say the suspect is described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years of age, and weighing between 140-170 pounds.  The suspect had dark hair with a slim goatee, and was wearing a black jacket and jeans.  Anyone with information about this attack is asked to call the Macon County Sheriff's Department at (217) 424-1311 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 423-8477.
