St. John's radiothon sets new record

SPRINGFIELD - St. John's Children's Hospital officials say their "Cares for Kids" Radiothon has set a new record this year by raising more than $109,000 for children treated at the facility.

This year, the Cares for Kids Radiothon was broadcast on two stations, 103.7 WDBR and 101.9 "The Wolf."  On-air personalities from both stations broadcast live for 26 hours during the two-day event.

According to Bev Neisler, Chief Development Officer for the Friends of St. John's, the money raised will support state of the art technology, life-saving equipment, and necessary programs for children at the hospital.

Officials say the Cares for Kids Radiothon has raised more than $859,000 in nine years.
