Woman's body found near northern Illinois jail

MORRISON - Northwestern Illinois authorities say a woman has been found dead in a wooded area near Whiteside County Jail.

Authorities say the woman's body was discovered around 3:00 p.m. on November 25.

According to Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi, the woman had been released from Whiteside County Jail about 30 hours prior to being found, after serving 10 days for contempt of court.  Officials say a snowstorm was passing through the area at the time of her release.  Wilhelmi says it's unclear if the woman called anyone for a ride.

Authorities say they do not know the cause of death, but it appears the woman died of hypothermia.
