Northern Illinois businesses selling out of firewood

Posted:
ROCKFORD - Northern Illinois businesses that sell firewood say their supplies are selling out quickly.

So far, two firewood producers say all of their wood has been sold, as some residents have doubled their orders in anticipation of another harsh winter.

Tyler Stevenson of Timber Tree Inc. says he sold off all the firewood he had last year, and may not be able to sell any next year in order to replenish his supply.

Firewood must be dried for one year or longer after being cut, with most suppliers cutting wood one-to-two years ahead of time to keep up a steady supply.
