Protesters gather at downtown Chicago Walmart

CHICAGO - Black Friday shoppers looking for deals at a downtown Chicago Walmart store were in for a surprise this morning as they were greeted by about 100 protesters.

Walmart stores across the country were targeted by protesters on Black Friday, traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

The protesters are asking for Walmart to make several changes, like offering employees more full-time positions and for the company to pay its employees $15 an hour.  During the protest at the Chicago store, some workers delivered a letter with their demands to the store's manager.

In a statement, Walmart spokesperson Erica Jones says Black Friday events being held at stores nationwide are a success because of the efforts of the more than one million Walmart employees working during the busy shopping day, and that Walmart is focused on providing its employees with opportunities for job growth every day.
