DMCOC setting appointments for LIHEAP program

DECATUR - The Decatur-Macon County Opportunities Corporation is scheduling appointments for individuals interested in participating in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The program, also known as LIHEAP, is administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and is designed to help low-income households meet their home heating costs.  DMCOC staff will be at the Decatur Civic Center on Friday, December 5 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. to schedule appointments.

DMCOC officials say the appointments will be made on a first come, first served basis, and appointments will be made until all available times are filled.  In addition to visiting the Civic Center to schedule an appointment, you can also call (217) 428-2193.  Only one appointment can be made per person.

Interested individuals and families must be income eligible and meet all other program criteria.  We've included the income guidelines below:

For a household size of 1: 30 day gross income must be $1459 or less.
For a household size of 2: 30 day gross income must be $1966 or less.
For a household size of 3: 30 day gross income must be $2474 or less.
For a household size of 4: 30 day gross income must be $2981 or less.
