ISP responds to crashes caused by slick road conditions

ILLINOIS - Illinois State Police officials say they have responded to multiple reports of crashes and vehicle slide-offs on Interstate 57 Thursday morning.

Authorities say the incidents have happened between mile posts 190 and 205 in Coles and Douglas Counties, as well as other roadways in Coles and Edgar Counties.  Illinois State Police say that wet snow, freezing rain, and dropping temperatures have led to hazardous road conditions on some parts of Interstates and State Routes.

The Illinois State Police is reminding motorists that overpasses, bridge decks, and ramps can freeze quickly and become dangerous.  Motorists are encouraged to monitor changing weather conditions, and to allow plenty of time to reach your destination.
