Danville Public Works announced holiday waste collection schedule

DANVILLE - The Danville Public Works Department has announced the weekly yard waste collection program will stop on December 12, 2014.

Officials say the Yard Waste Recycling Facility will remain open and will accept materials, and that live Christmas trees and other holiday greenery will be collected from January 5 through January 16.  Any remaining yard waste may be placed out during those two weeks, with yard waste collection stopping after January 16.

Danville Public Works officials also say that a special holiday waste collection will take place from December 29 through January 3.  During this time, residents will be able to place additional holiday waste beside the City-issued toter.  No food or drink may be included in this waste, and it must be inside plastic bags.

No waste collection will occur on December 25 or January 1, which will push back, by one day, any pick-up days for the remainder of those weeks.  The Public Works and Municipal Building will also be closed on December 26, but it will not affect waste collection.
