Man charged with computer-related extortion, harassment denied bond

EFFINGHAM - A former Illinois resident who is charged with two counts each of computer-related extortion and harassment has been denied bond by a federal judge.

Authorities say Stephen Mislich allegedly hacked the online accounts of more than 250 women in an attempt to extort nude photos.  Mislich was indicted in the fall of 2014 by a grand jury in Benton, Illinois.

A defense motion that would modify the conditions of Mislich's release so he would be eligible for bond was denied by U.S. District Court Judge Staci Yandle.  Mislich's trial is scheduled to begin in February 2015.
