Man Takes Plea Deal in Child Beating Case

DECATUR -  WAND News has learned Greggory Lawhorn, 25, has taken a plea deal in connection with the beating of a two year old in July.

Lawhorn will serve 30 months probation and will be required to undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations. He will be required to participate in any recommended treatment. The State's Attorney also told WAND News Lawhorn is required to surrender his parental rights, will no longer have any contact with the child, and must register as a violent offender against youth.

This is Lawhorn's second child abuse case. Last year he received probation for endangering the life of the same child.
