LSA Holds Special Assembly on Teen Driving Safety

DECATUR – Traffic related accidents remain the leading cause of death for people between the ages of 15-20, according to the Illinois Secretary of State's office.

On Tuesday, LSA (Lutheran School Association) High School did its part to make sure the number of accidents involving teenagers continue to go down.

State Trooper Tracy Lillard visited the school during a special assembly to talk to students about safe driving.

Students were attentive and weren't afraid to ask questions.

The number of teen driving fatalities in Illinois has dropped dramatically since 2007, when 155 were reported. In 2013, the number of deaths dropped to 71.

However, news of recent crashes heightened the importance of the assembly.
