RCC - Job Ready Labor

Decatur – Hands on experience.  Job ready labor for the Decatur workforce.

The Richland Community College Workforce Development Institute was dedicated Tuesday.  The $10 million project gives students valuable experience before they graduate.

“The students love the program,” instructor Curtis Happe told WAND News.  “They love the way we teach.”

Richland has had a long running automotive technology program.  The new Workforce Development Institute allows the school to add new programs.

“A collision repair program and a medium heavy duty diesel truck program,” said RCC Dean Jack Adwell.

There is a strong demand for this type of labor across the United States.  Local businesses are actually on a waiting list to get top notch students.

“If you're above average we place them out in the community and get them a job,” Happe stated.  “We've got pretty much 100% placement if you're above average.”
