Salvation Army to donate gifts to nursing homes, group homes

DECATUR - The Salvation Army has announced that Christmas gifts will be delivered to seniors living in four Decatur nursing homes on December 14.

Officials say the gifts were donated by the public from the Salvation Army's Senior Angel Tree, which was located inside the Wal-Mart store on the north side of Decatur.  The Salvation Army will hand out gifts at eight local group homes next week.

According to Salvation Army Captain Wes Dalberg, the donations will benefit approximately 500 seniors and group home residents.  Officials say that Heartland of Decatur, Heritage Manor, Decatur Rehab, and Decatur Manor will be visited on Sunday.  Salvation Army volunteers will also visit Friendship Hill, Southside Manor, Thompson House, Spring Creek Terrace, Beason Street Place, 44th Street Place, Hickory Pointe Terrace, and Hickory Street Place next week.
