Macon Resources, Inc. and Independence Pointe announce merger

DECATUR - Macon Resources, Inc. and Independence Pointe officials have announced that both social service agencies will merge on January 1, 2015.

Officials say the merger is intended to create a more coordinated and cohesive continuum for those with disabilities, and will also provide a platform for the expansion of current services.

Macon Resources, Inc. provides comprehensive services for children and adults with disabilities.  Independence Pointe provides services for autism, speech and language therapy, full-time child care, tutoring, behavior analysis and training, summer camps, and pre-vocational training.  Both agencies serve about 800 people combined on a regular basis.

Officials say all Independence Pointe and Macon Resources, Inc. operations will continue to operate under their current names, and no employees or services will be negatively affected by the merger.
