Dial-A-Carol program returning for 54th year

CHAMPAIGN - University of Illinois officials have announced their "Dial-A-Carol" program is returning for a 54th year.

Dial-A-Carol is hosted by students of Snyder Hall during finals week of the first semester each year, and was started in 1960 by Betty Gordon and residents of Snyder Hall in an attempt to spread holiday cheer around campus.  This year, the program will be held from 12:01 a.m. on December 11, and will last until 11:59 p.m. on December 17.

During this time, anyone from anywhere can call (217) 332-1882 and request that a holiday tune be played over the telephone.  Volunteers will also sing to every fifth caller.  The phone line will be open for requests 24 hours a day during the seven-day program.  Dial-A-Carol logged more than 4,000 calls from all over the world last year.
