Illinois Army National Guard soldiers dedicating new readiness center

NORMAL - Illinois Army National Guard soldiers are gearing up to dedicate a multimillion-dollar readiness center in Normal that they will call their new home.

Soldiers of the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade will hold a dedication ceremony and open house at Heartland Community College's Normal Readiness Center on Sunday.  Soldiers of the 404th will move their headquarters from Chicago to the new facility.

Illinois Army National Guard officials say the 18,000-square-foot center will provide soldiers with easy access to an airport and highways in central Illinois.  Construction of the facility began in March 2013.

Included in the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade are firefighting, search and extraction, and military police units.
