Former lawmaker registers as sex offender

ELGIN - A former Illinois lawmaker who pleaded guilty to transporting child pornography has registered as a sex offender.

Authorities say Keith Farnham, 67, is now listed on the Illinois State Police's sex offender web site as a "sexual predator."  The web site says he possessed child pornography of a victim under the age of 13.

Farnham resigned from his position shortly after federal agents seized computers from his office and home in March.  Farnham pleaded guilty to the child pornography charge in December 2014.  According to his attorney, Terry Ekl, Farnham has never physically abused children.

Farnham is scheduled to be sentenced in March 2015.  He could face up to 20 years in prison.
