U of I task force to investigate sexual assaults at campuses

CHAMPAIGN - A task force designed to investigate sexual assaults at the University of Illinois is planning to survey all three university campuses in order to assess the situation at each.

The group was created by University of Illinois President Robert Easter last year as sexual violence at colleges and the military have become a prominent national issue.

University spokesperson Tom Hardy says the group has approximately 18 members, made up of students, student-services staff, safety officials, and others.  The group met for the first time on Wednesday.

Hardy also says the group is planning to start surveys at the Springfield, Urbana-Champaign, and Chicago campuses, with surveys wrapping up by spring 2015.
