Boxed Christmas Meals Feed Over 1,000

Decatur – Christmas in a box.  1,130 boxes loaded with food for a Christmas meal were distributed Friday by the Salvation Army in Decatur.

“We're just trying to alleviate some of the hunger issues that people have during the holiday season,” Salvation Army Captain Wes Dahlberg told WAND's Doug Wolfe.

The boxes were loaded with turkeys, dressing, potatoes, yams, vegetables and a loaf of bread.  For desert, a pumpkin pie with topping.

The people receiving the meals are in need.

“They are people who are your neighbors and friends right here in town,” Dahlberg stated.  “We want to help them have a joyful and happy holiday season.”
