Operation Hero Miles accepting donated frequent flyer miles
CHICAGO - Governor Pat Quinn is urging Illinois residents to support "Operation Hero Miles," a program that helps injured servicemembers connect with their families.
Operation Hero Miles is a program that uses frequent flier miles, donated by Illinois residents, to provide military families with free round-trip tickets to visit a servicemember receiving medical treatment. The program also allows ill or wounded servicemembers who have approved leave to fly home at no cost.
Since the start of the program, more than 40,000 tickets have been issued, saving military families and servicemembers approximately $63 million. If you would like to donate frequent flyer miles to Operation Hero Miles, visit http://fisherhouse.org.
