Woman receives 8-year prison sentence for allowing abuse

URBANA - A Thomasboro woman who pleaded guilty to one count of permitting the sexual abuse of a child has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Authorities say Kristy Wines, 37, admitted that she knew her boyfriend, Lyn Niemann, was sexually abusing young children.  Niemann was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in April of the predatory criminal sexual assault of three boys.  According to authorities, Wines and Niemann were living together when the crimes occurred.

Wines received her sentence on Tuesday.  During her sentencing, Judge Heidi Ladd called Wines depraved and callous for not attempting to stop the abuse.
