Illini Cruise Past Kennesaw State in Final Non-Conference Tune Up
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Rayvonte Rice scored 21 points on Saturday night and Illinois cruised past Kennesaw State 93-45 in a final tune-up before Big Ten play.
Malcolm Hill chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds for Illinois (10-3), while Aaron Cosby added 13 points.
Illinois went on an impressive 25-0 run at the end of the first half that spanned more than 10 minutes. Rice, who leads the Illini with 17.4 points per game, scored 16 in the first half despite spending several minutes on the bench. Due to the score, Rice sat the final 13 minutes.
Illinois shot 58.8 percent from the field (20-of-34) in the half, and ended the game shooting 55.4 percent (36-of-65).
Yonel Brown and Damien Wilson each scored 10 points to lead Kennesaw State (4-10). Wilson also grabbed 11 rebounds.
