Urbana man charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor

URBANA - Authorities say an Urbana man faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and delivering a gun to his son after guns intended for hunting were found in his teenage son's truck at St. Joseph-Ogden High School.

The man, whose identity was not immediately known, was arraigned on Tuesday.  State's Attorney Julia Rietz says the man's 16-year-old son faces a charge of possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner's identification card.

According to Rietz, a concerned parent gave an anonymous tip to school officials, stating that the teen was telling other students about a gun in his car.  Rietz also says the teen's unlocked truck was inspected, and was found to have allegedly contained seven boxes of ammunition, an assault rifle, and two shotguns.
