Northern Illinois authorities investigate shooting death

ROCKFORD - Northern Illinois authorities say they're investigating the shooting death of a teenage girl that happened during the early morning hours of January 2.

Rockford police say they received a report of a shooting victim early Friday morning.  Upon arriving, police officers say they found a 15-year-old girl on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound, and a 19-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.  

According to Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia, the girl was pronounced dead at about 3:30 a.m. by the Rockford Fire Department.  An autopsy has been planned for Friday afternoon.
