Quinn signs legislation that helps residents save for retirement

CHICAGO - Legislation that helps Illinois residents save money for their retirement has been signed into law by Governor Pat Quinn.

The measure was signed by Quinn at the James R. Thompson Center on Sunday.  The new law creates the Illinois Secure Choice Savings Program, which Quinn says will offer more than two million private sector employees who don't have access to a retirement plan an option for an individual retirement plan.

Quinn also says the new law helps Illinois residents who are saving for retirement because the Social Security benefits that many people receive are not enough to cover all of their expenses after retirement.
