Cold Blast To Hit Illinois

Decatur – The temperature on the bank sign read 14 degrees.  For the next few days that temperature may seem warm as a cold blast sinks central Illinois into subzero temperatures.

“I'm from England so it's a lot colder over here than it is in England,” said a lunch time shopper carrying several boxes of pizza.  “So, I've got myself wrapped up.  Scarf, hat, gloves.”

The Salvation Army has added 20 to 30 extra cots for the homeless at its shelter.

“We have 33 beds for our regular guys and then we have these additional beds because of the extreme cold,” Salvation Army Captain Wes Dahlberg told WAND News.  “They get cleaned up and they get an evening meal and they get a nice warm cot.”
