Western Illinois man accused of murder to undergo mental fitness exam

QUINCY - A western Illinois man who faces two counts of first-degree murder will undergo a mental fitness exam to determine if he can stand trial.

Authorities say David Masterson, 50, will be examined by Psychologist Frank Froman to determine if he's mentally fit to stand trial.

Masterson was charged in connection with the death of Jason Tournear on December 13.  According to police, Masterson allegedly hit Tournear in the head with a metal pipe after the two had gotten into an argument.

Authorities say Masterson is currently being held in Adams County Jail.  His bond is set at $5 million.
