Granite City man convicted of abusing 7-week-old baby

EDWARDSVILLE - A Granite City man accused of breaking the skull, one leg, and several ribs of a seven-week-old child has been found guilty of four counts of aggravated battery of a child.

The Madison County jury found Kamryn Kerr, 20, guilty of abusing the child after less than two hours of deliberation.  Authorities say the child's mother, Ashlee Wethington, 19, also faces charges, to which she has pleaded not guilty.

Police say both Wethington and Kerr were arrested after the injured child was brought to a hospital in September 2014.  According to the child's grandmother, the baby is in foster care and has recovered.

When he's sentenced, Kerr could face up to 120 years in prison.
