Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum holding art contest

SPRINGFIELD - Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum officials are encouraging Illinois students to participate in an art contest commemorating the 150th anniversary of the former president's death.

Officials say the winning entries will be put on display in April as part of the 10th anniversary of the library and museum and the commemoration of Lincoln's death.  Students in kindergarten through high school will be able to participate in the contest, with winners being selected in three age categories.

Officials say any artwork that's submitted must be on poster board, measuring 11 inches wide by 14 inches high.  The artwork must relate to the museum's anniversary, which also coincides with the anniversary year for the end of the Civil War.  The artwork cannot contain any copyrighted characters.

According to officials, students will be able to submit their entries until January 30.
