Southern Illinois family creates massive icicle in front yard

Posted:
ST. ELMO - A family in the southern Illinois city of St. Elmo have created a new attraction for their community - a 45-foot-tall icicle in their front yard.

The towering icicle was created by Garrick Moreland when he scaled a tree with a water hose and turned on the water a few weeks ago.  The icicle continued to grow to massive proportions over the days that followed.

Moreland's mother, Katherine Ragel, says she's afraid the icicle could provide a major distraction to drivers and cause accidents, as she says sometimes passing traffic will "stop in the middle of the road."
