6 arrested for allegedly stealing Toys for Tots donations
NORTH CHICAGO - Northern Illinois authorities say a park board commissioner is among six individuals arrested in connection with the theft of several toys from a U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots charity drive in North Chicago.
North Chicago police say Foss Park Commissioner Susan Dixon and park employees Tommie Kindle and Mark Dixon Jr. have been charged with felony theft. Police say the charges allege they stole approximately $500 worth of toys from a park district facility shortly before Christmas.
According to Lake County prosecutors, surveillance video of the theft exists. During a bond hearing, Kindle's attorney said that his client was only following Susan Dixon's instructions.
Authorities have not released the names of the other three arrested individuals, nor the charges filed against them.
