Southeastern Illinois college to offer hydraulic fracturing degree
ROBINSON - A community college in southeastern Illinois will soon offer its students the chance to obtain a petroleum drilling technology, or fracking, degree.
Lincoln Trail College officials say the program will have its first students during the fall 2015 semester. Students who complete the petroleum drilling technology degree will earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree.
According to Lincoln Trail College President Kathryn Harris, this new program will help students learn the skills they'll need to find a job in the fracking industry. Illinois officials agreed on long-awaited high-volume oil and gas drilling regulations in 2014.
